The Labour Party have released the best election advert of the campaign so far.
It features famous comedian Jon Richardson aping the “Margot Robbie in a bath” scene from the blockbuster movie The Big Short.
In it Richardson explains how Rishi Sunak’s lucrative career as a hedge fund manager helped to crash the economy.
The Labour Party will have been very keen to make Sunak’s career pre-politics part of the election narrative, but personal attacks stand a high chance of backfiring and so need to be carefully planned.
By using comedian Richardson as the message career and a culturally famous ‘explainer’ style as a creative platform, the attack carries the viewer with them and avoids any blowback.
Getting ideas like this approved internally and out into the world is incredibly hard, but Labour have been rewarded for their bravery as the video has generated over 2 million views on X alone.
